Votes Boost In Taxes For Everybody
Washington May 24 The House Ways and Means Committee voted to raise individual income tax by about 12 to 14 percent and add 730 million dollars in excess profits tax on corporations. Republicans denounced the move as rushed after a secret caucus while Democrats defended the plan as a restructured tax scheme affecting different income levels. The new formula eases small taxpayers while higher earners bear more, with ceilings rising for individuals and firms under the plan.
