China Pearl suit opens against city
The jury was selected this morning and opening statements were made in the compensation suit of the China Pearl against the City of Frederick. Owner Ching Tsai Maio opened the restaurant Oct. 12, 1972 and said city work on a parking deck cut off access. He has closed the business and will reopen at US 40 West. Plaintiff is represented by Cleopatra Campbell. The city, by Clater Smith and Milner Roberts, will argue proper acquisition and construction. Judge Samuel W. Barrick declared a recess before noon and the case continues.
