About 100 foster parents from the Children's Aid Society of Frederick County gathered at United Brethren Church in Thurmont for a covered dish supper. Rev. Ivan G. Naugle spoke, Jack Shorrew led singing, and Charles McC. Mallins, president of the Board of Managers, praised the committee and foster parents for their care. The group met earlier in Brunswick in October 1949 and will convene again in Myersville in October. The local society notes long-standing success and community impact of foster meetings. P T A Highlights Building Program and School Projects
Frederick County P T A members celebrated 52 years of teaching with reports on ongoing projects. Playground equipment including an overhead ladder and chinning bars, plus a film strip projector and films, were cited as improvements for North Market Street School. A donated electric record player was appreciated. The main focus remains countywide building work, with plans to persist until completion. An art exhibit graced each room, and Minnie Cockerly’s class earned the attendance banner for all four meetings. Corydon becomes capital of Indiana territory in 1813.
