Last amateur baseball fades in Frederick County history
The New Market Mount Airy team joins the Baltimore Major League as the last amateur link in Frederick County. Once many leagues and hundreds of players, now one team of 25 30 players with only 18 fans at a Friday game. Players recall peak days, decline due to slowpitch softball, and a community sport slowly dying while few fans attend.
