Warming trend may change world agriculture says USDA analysis
The USDA report notes that a global warming trend could alter crop yields unevenly, with declines in the central and southern U.S. and Western Europe, but gains in parts of the Soviet Union and Canada. It also discusses carbon dioxide fertilization, potential adaptation timelines, and modest net effects on world income.

Rising productivity reshapes American farming through the decades
Washington report shows farm productivity rising since World War II driven by bigger farms and machinery. One farm worker fed 14.1 people in 1947, rising to 98 in 1989, yet the study warns the labor figure does not alone explain food production. Non farm work shares grew, while inputs shifted from labor to machinery and chemicals, boosting output even as environmental and policy factors rose.
