Roundup continues with late inning drama as the Giants rally against Tug McGraw with bases loaded in the ninth, Montanez driving in the decisive run. Cincinnati rides two solo homers by Joe Morgan and George Foster to Osaka a comeback. Bannister earns first win as Astros win sixth of seven. Parkers homer powers Pirates and Mets, Sanguillen and Garner homers contribute for Pittsburgh.
The Cubs defeated the Cardinals 6 to 2 as Greg Gross hit two triples and Ivan DeJesus homered to drop St Louis to its eighth straight loss. Dave Roberts started for Chicago, allowing six hits in seven innings, with Willie Hernandez finishing. Chicago loaded runs in the first on a walk, Gross's triple, Buckner’s sacrifice fly, Kingman’s single, and Murrer’s triple.
Rotary won 7 to 3 as Larry James fired a five hitter for Rotary and teamed with Robb Wolfe on two hits each. In the Dairy Maid win over Freez King 11-3 Robbie Naylor led with three hits while Myron Custer added two hits and drove in three runs. West Shewbridge had two hits for Freez King. OFF STALLARD In 1961 Roger Maris hit his 60th home run against Jack Kisher and his 61st off Tracey Sallard of the Red Sox.
