Frederick County Hosts State Agricultural Commission Meeting
The Maryland Agricultural Commission met first in Frederick County on May 11 at the Holiday Inn with Chairman Young D. Hance presiding. The group discussed fee increases for fruit and vegetable grading, swine brucellosis and hog cholera, air pollution from manure drying, and poultry guidelines. About 100 attendees gathered for a luncheon and farm tours in Washington and Frederick Counties, while officials noted the commission’s liaison role between agriculture, business, and Annapolis and the high passage rate of endorsed measures.
