Danny Williams, born in Port Elizabeth, rose to five top ten songs before being banned from returning to his native South Africa. His hit "White on White" sparked a career in the United States and England, while his exile follows his marriage to an Englishwoman. Williams, 22, began singing in church, later joining the Golden City Dixies of Johannesburg, touring Africa, then moving to England where he hit with Moon River and other British records. Now recording in New York, he plans his next release "Little Toy Balloon" amid ongoing South African prohibition.
