Attempted murder targets ex senator in New York office

William Van Aken and an unidentified accomplice burst into ex United States Senator J B McPherson's office in the Aldridge Building. Van Aken, partly blind, tried to shoot McPherson but was overpowered as secretary Edward F Lew seized the revolver. Van Aken held on $3000 bail. case bound for grand jury. Also reports the death of Charles Philip Yorke, Earl of Harwood, born 1836, Cambridge MP from 1863 to 1873, and heir to Viscount Royston.
