The U S Attornes office issued subpoenas to records of contracting firms linked to Tidewater Insurance in a widening federal probe. Two Tidewater officers Harry W. Rodgers Ir president and W Dale Hess treasurer and former state legislator face investigation amid Maryland political corruption inquiries. Tidewater handled performance bonds on state projects valued at nearly seven million dollars in 1968 under Gov Spiro Agnew.

Jamaica to tax bauxite with new levy and production rule

Salisbury Hospital Team Performs Open Heart Surgery
A 12 man surgical team at Peninsula General Hospital carried out the state s first open heart surgery outside the Baltimore Washington area. Led by Dr Richard Hughes the May 15 operation repaired a rheumatic valve in a 48 year old Eastern Shore woman with a 37 minute heart bypass during a three hour procedure. The patient remains in intensive care in satisfactory condition.
