Chicago woman Mrs Guard reports life derailed by threats and vandalism after testifying in a case tied to a South Side dispute. Prosecutors say Ronald Tabone and George Witecak attacked her with violence and harassment, leading to court appearances and bonds set at 130,000 each.
Nearly half of Baltimore County's 133 appointed board members failed to file financial disclosure statements by the deadline. If more statements do not arrive by May 15, 30 board members on the Health Board Planning Board Revenue Authority and Board of Social Services will automatically lose their posts. County executive Frederick L. Dewberry called the situation a decimation and said he will ask the county council to loosen the four month old law.
Maryland designates eleven of 133 projects for federal sewer aid. The $1817 million share backs cleanups for Potomac headwaters and Patapsco area projects in Baltimore. Rural officials protest allocation, seeking funds for nonmetropolitan areas with water problems. Local tax burden disputed. Maryland may receive another $300 million later.

A medical examiner cites death from shock exposure and exhaustion. The confession states he went to the school out of curiosity despite a stay away order.
