Solar energy's bright future amid policy and demand
Solar energy experts say President Carter's push and tax credits spur growth as utilities face rising bills and gas shortages. ERDA notes 30,000 units exist and 2.5 million installations by 1985 could be supported by incentives. Solar systems heat water, space, and may power cooling, with payback under 15 years.

Solar energy aims to slash home bills and boost industry
Federal funds pour into solar research from 1971 to 1977 with Carter plan proposing 305 million for next year. Experts expect equipment costs to drop up to 75 percent, targeting 1300 to 1400 dollar water heating systems by 1978 as solar devices spread nationwide and in orbit plans.
