The Bookmobile is off the road due to mechanical issues while a Mini-van continues the route with paperback and new titles. Patrons may call 694-1615 Monday to Thursday 10 to noon for requests or schedule changes. the mini-van will follow the listed daily routes through Sept. 20, visiting multiple neighborhoods and communities with precise times and streets.
The Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary met in May at Bed Horse Inn, Frederick. President Detic Shaler welcomed guests. Chery Oer offered the prayer. A painting by Sylvia Weinberg, donated by the White family, was shown in tribute to the late Moulds White. The annual report reprints the 1952–1963 history. Board chair Gale Guyl on and hospital leaders attended. Scholarships totaling 8,400 were awarded to local students from Frederick Community College and area high schools. The group thanked Mrs. Orr for service, noted 65,986 hours logged by 540 members, and reported over $1.5 million donated since 1953. Dues were raised to $6. A $122,000 check was presented while a $500,000 five-year construction pledge was noted, with $385,500 paid and $116,500 due. Snowball planning set for Nov. 29 at the Sheraton Inn with Anna Lee Schaden chairing. Snow Belle rules and volunteer hour requirements were outlined. The Christmas Bazaar is set for Dec. 3 in the old hospital cafeteria. A memorial garden project was started. Nominating committee named officers for a two-year term. Karen Goggin elected president, Mary Waskom president-elect, and others appointed. Shafer was thanked for her service as outgoing president.
