Frederick County Crime Solvers seeks tips on two thefts from the Francis Scott Key Mall lot. A black Buick Riviera was stolen June 19, 1982 and later found in Inwood West Virginia Eleven Store. A tan 1982 GMC van with Ohio plate PTD 215 was stolen April 15, 1983. Both cars were locked with keys out of ignition between 6:30 and 9 p.m. Call 663-3200 with information. rewards up to $1,000.
A Potomac home was broken into and two fires set on March 15 as part of a burglary. The 10500 block of Oaklyn Drive suffered $170000 in damage. Stolen items include three watches a solid yellow gold pocket watch by Zetthouse Myer an 18 carat gold pocket watch with Arabic numerals and a 21 carat white gold lady’s wristwatch by Cortina plus Franklin Mint silver ingots and a pendant containing a $20 double eagle coin. A $1000 Crime Solvers reward for information leading to arrests is offered call 840 2444 with anonymity.
Paratroopers and glider troopers who served with the 13th Airborne Division in World War II will mark the division’s 40th anniversary with a second annual reunion at the Philadelphia Centre Hotel in Philadelphia on August 11 12 and 12. A ceremonial handover of the division flag, in Army custody since 1945, will precede the division dinner on August 12. The reunion mirrors the founding convention in Detroit Michigan.
A Coast Guard report says armed men aboard a vessel resembling a clam boat ordered divers from entering the Marine Electric wreck site about 30 miles east of Chincoteague Virginia. Five men with weapons pressured the insurance team during a planned Sunday dive at the 605 foot wreck where 31 lives werelost in February.
