Ski Roundtop plan faces Eyler Valley Emmitsburg opposition
The Ski College Mountain project seeks 8000 skiers per hour capacity and 3200 parking spaces on Crystal Fountain Road near Annandale Road. County officials and residents resist, citing the county plan and potential water, sewer, and traffic impacts while developers offer ties to Toms Creek watershed and possible town cooperation. Construction could start spring 1986 with skiing in 1986-87 if approved.

Peregrine falcons hatch on Chesapeake Bay Bridge
A Maryland biologist confirms the first hatching at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge site, the second natural breeding of peregrine falcons in the state this year. The under bridge nest holds four eggs with uncertain hatches, while Baltimore’s famous Scarlett and Beauresard on the city’s tallest building produced four hatchlings six weeks ago. Biologists note the bridge birds may have been bred in captivity and released by the Peregrine Falcon Fund at Cornell University.
