Cheese Giveaway Faces Red Tape In Frederick County
In Frederick County volunteers led by the Religious Coalition and with support from the County Commission on Aging the Social Services department and the Farm Bureau organized a surplus dairy food distribution. Bottled cheese and butter stored due to strict federal guidelines created slow distribution to those in need including the poor aging and welfare recipients. Local officials hope state and federal help will fix red tape and allow the program to reach deserv ing families through the Food Bank and partner agencies with cold storage from Frederick Produce Co. Inc. and support from Jack Brunk.
