Gregg Smith Singers End 78 Concert Series On High Note
A capacity audience at Gov. Thomas Jobson Auditorium heard the Gregg Smith Singers in the Community Concert Association’s final 1978 season offering. The 17 member ensemble, with pianist Oresta Cy Driwley, performed works from the eighteenth to twentieth centuries and featured spatial sound experiments, including Mendelssohn, Schoenberg, and a futuristic chamber opera Introductions and Goodbyes by Lukas Foas. The concert highlighted intimate acoustics, engaging discussion by Mr. Smith, and a memorable butler scene, concluding as a rare, high standard event in serious choral music.
