Tydings Campaign Tour Touches Southwest Frederick County
U S Senate hopeful Joseph D. Tydings shunned sound tracks on a shoe leather tour through southwest Frederick County. He stopped at Feaga General Store in Feagaville and urged support to end the Tawes Hocker Goldstein era. In Jefferson he spoke with workers at H C Summers plant about a Maryland War on Poverty. He also met a prominent Negro family at Coates Corner and cited civil rights records, noting county ties to his late father Mullard Tydings. The day included stops at Hawaiian Motel, a Brunswick restaurant, and Litten Chevrolet as he aimed to recruit business leaders into state government.
