New Jaguar has fewest defects in Powers report
DETROIT AP New Jaguar cars had the fewest defects and 1999 Kia cars the most in a private Powers report. The Initial Quality Study surveyed 41,004 owners of 1999 models over 90 days. Jaguar led with 110 defects per 100 vehicles while Kia logged 333. Honda Odyssey and Porsche 911 showed notable increases in defects for redesigned models.

Corn and soybeans gained on the Chicago Board of Trade as investors covered positions ahead of farmer planting progress reports showing ongoing behind average fieldwork due to recent rains. Wheat moved mixed on concerns over NATO bombing and slower Chinese purchases, with export inspections at 26.23 million bushels. Livestock futures were mixed with gains in lean hogs and feeder cattle while corn and oats posted modest advances. American Microwave Corp won an SBA export award for Maryland. Large scale Biology Corp in Rockville secured a multimillion dollar grant from the National Cancer Institute for cancer marker protein research.
