United Front plans in Far East amid Indochina crisis
The report notes a proposal for an anti Communist united front in the Far East. Lincoln White said Dulles asked envoys to assess who would join and what commitments they would make. Democratic criticism centered on Indochina crisis after Dien Bien Phu and a bleak Geneva outlook. Sen Kefauver warned leadership at a low point and urged new foreign policy direction. He blamed Dulles for weakened Senate trust and limited negotiating power, while Sen Morse warned of possible escalation to war in Asia. A stray line about whale flippers ends the item.
