Model Legislature divides state theme raises youth program debate
In Annapolis a mock Maryland secession proposal by Eastern and Western Shore youth lawmakers failed in committee and drew criticism from Gov Hughes. The 38th annual YMCA Model Legislature saw Frederick County send 32 delegates with long hours, debates on gun permits, education boards, and driving and age policies, while student leaders plus Lt Gov Camenn and Senate President Steinberg addressed the group.
