Planners Reject Sewage Plants Near Buckeystown and Sabillasville

The Frederick County Planning Commission denied two requests to operate sewage treatment plants near Buckeystown and Sabillasville. One sought a Buckingham Hills plant to serve 47 lots, where health tests were weak, while the other would serve Summit Lake Camp at Eylers Valley and Hampton Valley Roads, deemed to exceed zoning. The staff noted adequate septic service for the current land use, and the commission adopted that view. In other business, 2 residential and five commercial-industrial lots were recorded since April, bringing the yearly total to 252 on 184.23 acres.

Utility stays the course on power line route plans

A utility says its proposed power line route remains unchanged after filing with the Public Service Commission. Substantial changes would require PSC action, with county and citizens able to testify at hearings. The utility remains willing to cooperate on a possible slight shift at Kempton Park to fit county site plans. County Commissioner Grossnickle questioned PE's awareness of the county's Kempton Park plans, noting poor coordination between segments.
