Martinsburg defeated Battistas 9 to 2 as Danny Spies pitched a four hitter with eight strikeouts. Germantown edged Mt. Airy 7 to 6 with Earl Chaney Ron Betson and Leon Taylor each collecting two hits for the winners. Rick Peacher led Martinsburg with three hits and Gary Thomas, Punner Twigg, John Lower and D. L. Smith added two hits apiece.
Six more teams enter the 4th Annual Walter Hagen Pro Am to benefit the American Cancer Society, bringing total entries to 31 for the May 21 event at the VFW Country Club. Final spots limited. local winners advance to a State Tournament in August and a National Championship at Disney World in December.
