Unofficial tallies favored Tydings in the county by about 170 votes with Mahoney hoping to overturn the result. A Mahoney supporter suggested an Emmitsburg precinct error could lift Tydings toward a near 200 vote margin. The canvass covered 14 absentee ballots and will continue with machine totals checked against precinct sheets.
