Huge Conveyor Belt To Speed Up Loading
A massive conveyor belt planned for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad pier at Curtis Bay will speed iron ore loading. At 1,812 feet long and four feet wide it will move about 2,000 tons per hour at 400 feet a minute, operated by two 15 ton shovels, weather permitting. The system shuts off in winds above 38 miles an hour via an anemometer. The B F Goodrich Company built the belt.
