Advisers To Truman Urge Spending Restraint In 1994 Budget
US economic advisers urged trimming tax burdens and scaling back a 4 billion dollar tax increase. The Council of Economic Advisers reported in April that such steps, including potential excise tax relief, could curb costs and help balance the budget without launching a new public works program. Led by Edwin G. Nourse with Leon Kyserling and John D. Clark, the panel largely agreed on the economy outlook as a healthy disinflation.
