Maryland Environmental Trust Preserves 50 000 Acres
Since its start 28 years ago the Maryland Environmental Trust has permanently protected 50 000 acres of the state's natural resources and over 100 miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline through conservation easements. Director Thomas Saunders notes donated easements have risen steadily in five years. These deeds limit development and qualify landowners for charitable tax deductions and state property tax breaks.
