Mitterrand Leads WW II Anniversary Ceremonies

In Paris the French president hosted leaders from nearly 66 nations for the 50th anniversary of Nazi surrender. Jacques Chirac stood with Mitterrand at the Arc de Triomphe as veterans, dignitaries, and 5,000 security personnel observed the wreath and a 2,500-strong parade. Dam Traffic Chase Nets Dozens of Speeding Riders

Twenty six Pennsylvania motorcyclists racked up seven thousand five hundred dollars in fines after a high speed chase on Md 26. Five area police officers and a state police helicopter corralled about 40 riders at 10 30 a m Sunday as some tried to escape by shoulders and no passing zones. Investigation shows man shot wife, then self

Frederick County detectives say marital and money troubles possibly triggered a murder suicide. Thomas M. Fatal headon crash near Middletown on Md 17

A two car collision at Md 17 and Bennies Hill Road near Middletown left at least one dead and several injured including a child. Maryland State Police responded at about 7 33 a m and Md 17 stayed closed over an hour. One victim was from Washington County and a child was flown to Children’s Hospital while an elderly woman was taken to Washington Hospital.

Man dies in single car wreck near Myersville

A Sykesville resident, Christopher W Grubb, 19, of Forest Court, died in a Sunday morning single car crash on US 70 near Md 17 after his 1989 Toyota Supra left the left lane, struck the median, rolled onto an embankment and ejected him as it went onto its side.
