In Myersville the ballot box from yesterday's mayoral election was locked in a county jail safe with no new recount. Mayor Grayson Doub lost by one vote to Commissioner Claude Keller who led 90 to 88. The key remains with the mayor. Sheriff Baumgartner awaits instructions. Council winners include Stroup 97, Ricketts 97, Harp 105, Woodward 90, Mause 102. Defeated were Myers 87 and others. Mayor Way in Burkittsville rejected an $80,000 federal sewer grant. Woman Dies After Apartment Fire Burns
A Frederick woman Anna May Disney died from severe burns after her clothing caught fire while attempting to extinguish a kitchen blaze on April 29. Police say a match or cigarette lit a plastic trash can under the sink, igniting her clothing and the living room sofa. She was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital then flown to Baltimore City Hospital where she died on Monday. Surviving: mother Mabel Disney, daughter Marie Disney Davis, brothers Robert and John Disney, aunts Eva and Gladys Disney, uncle Clarence Disney, two grandchildren and four nephews. Graveside services Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Hicks Funeral Home in charge.
