Four Charged In Alabama Vote Count
In Selma Alabama the Justice Department accuses that about 1700 Negro votes were improperly disqualified in the Democratic primary to favor Sheriff James G Clark. The suit seeks to overturn the county Democratic Election Committee ruling and to prevent destruction of disputed ballots. If counted, Baker would win the nomination and avoid a May 31 runoff. The action cites the 1965 Voting Rights Act amid past demonstrations.
