Frederick Circuit Court Judge Mary Ann Stepler imposed two concurrent 20 year sentences on Richard E Tyergar Sr. for cocaine distribution. Del Boyd Smith urged leniency. special narcotics prosecutor Scott Rolle highlighted a large undercover operation. Gerald R. Johnson defeated incumbent Linda R. Boyer in Mount Airy mayoral race with 485 votes to 312 amid a turnout of 796 including 20 absentee ballots. Council winners were Oliver H.
