Whittemore Seeks Court Appointed Attorney in Murder Trial
Richard Reese Whittemore, claiming poverty, asked Baltimore Criminal Court Judge Eugene O'Dunne to appoint counsel for his murder trial of a Maryland penitentiary guard in 1926. Striking Foundry Worker Killed in Cicero Exchange
In Cicero a battle between striking workers and strike breakers left Thomas Hallwood dead and Charles Shimkus wounded. Hallwood was a 39 year old striking molder at the Greenlee foundry near the scene. Shimkus was shot in the leg and two other strikers were reportedly injured.
