Brunswick mother shoots intruder in defense of children
A 27 year old Brunswick mother, Mrs Bertha Wirts, shot an armed man in her home as he advanced with a chair raised. The intruder, identified as Charles Henry Beaner, died from a shotgun wound near the neck. Washington May 7 Secre tary of the Treasury Morgenthau told the House Ways and Means committee the time has come to lower personal exemptions under the Individual income tax to 600 for single persons 1200 for married couples and 300 for each dependent. The reductions would raise about 1160000000 with 100000000 from 6900000 new taxpayers. The move would be in addition to the 3200000000 Morgenthau asked Congress to raise as part of a 7600000000 overall tax program. Present exemptions are 750 for singles 1500 for married couples and 400 for dependents.
