Wage Hour Bill Snatched From Rates Committee
In Washington the wage hour bill faced a House clash as a large majority moved to remove the proposal from the Rates committee. The plan would set a 25 cent minimum wage, with five cent annual increases to forty cents and a maximum four prerequisites. Representative Mars Norton chairs the Labor committee and sponsored the measure. The House vote was 216 to 193 to send a different bill back to the Labor committee, shelving the subject until further action.
