Additional weekday meetings and revival services are noted for St Timothe’s Chapel Evangelical Reformed Central Lutheran Calvary M E and other congregations.
The Frederick county church listings show a broad schedule of Mothers Day services across Methodist Episcopal, Lutheran, Evangelical, and Reformed charges. Notable items include St Paul Utica hosting a Mothers Day service with a flower festival, and sermons or special programs at Mt. Tabor, Zion Urbana, St. Luke Adams-town, and Holy Trinity Point of Rocks, among many others led by pastors such as Rev. S R Kresge Rev. Seibel Rev. Bright and Rev. G Wilson Paul.
The famous English Boys Choir touring the United States will sing at All Saints Protestant Episcopal Church in this city on Monday evening. A choral evensong at 8 o clock features the boys choir with Rev. Malcolm S. Taylor officiating. Carlton Borrow directs the choir, former Royal College Organist who founded the London Choir School. The group includes coronation participants and three noted boy soloists. An offering will go toward tour expenses.
Rehearsals under Mrs. R Dean Stickel for the bicentennial Evangelical Lutheran church pageant Our Heritage at the old chapel. Rev Dr Amos John Traver pastor. May 18 19 and 20. Cast over 100 with stage lighting and a 250 seat lower hall. Tickets free after 7 45 pm. Music by Prof Henry T Wade.
The May 3 International Uniform Sunday School Lesson discusses disciples disputing who is greatest and Jesus teaching that true greatness lies in service. It notes human motives include pride yet can coexist with devotion, urging welcome of good works by any believer regardless of group affiliation.
Frederick churches plan a May 22 service at Calvary M E church to mark John Wesley's conversion and celebrate the recent unification of Methodist Episcopal South and Methodist Protestant churches. Local ministers including W T Gover and Dr Benjamin W Meeks organize the program with a high profile address expected.
The Mountaindale Union Sunday School plans a Mother's Day Service Sunday at 7 30 PM. The program includes songs, readings, recitations, a play titled Jimmy Comes Home, and performances by Betty Irene Palmer Anna Mary Brantz and others under Pastor Rev John W Fis of Walkersville U B Church.
A minister recalls Dr McCosh and a former student who professed unbelief yet sought prayer after his godly mother’s intercession. The second feature, Rocky Spring Union church hosts a Mothers Day program with congregational singing and a story lab program and a keynote by Rev Ralph Shober.
The annual membership meeting will be held Sunday after worship at each church. The Fourth Quarterly conference will meet at Catoctin on Monday at 7:30 PM. Delegates to the annual conference will be elected at the meeting, marking the conference year’s tax election.
