Crowded Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros Circus Delights Walkersville
A standing room crowd packed the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros Circus at Walkersville on Wednesday night with two shows planned at 4:30 and 7:30 pm. Ringmaster Jimmy James, with 27 years with the circus, led the crowd in a cannon blast countdown as Sean Thomas faced a near miss during the second shot. Maryland campaign finance law to provide 2.7 million in 1994 races
ANNAPOLIS AP Barring delay, about 2.7 million could fund governor race financing in 1994 primaries and general elections. The 1978 law let taxpayers contribute 2 to public financing via tax returns with a one time test. Test was set for 1986 but delayed by the General Assembly. Next year the program could start unless lawmakers delay again, splitting funds with primary candidates under a spending cap. Half of the money funds the primary race for eligible candidates.
