Gaver Loses Suit Over Assessment Back Pay
The Frederick County case held that Supervisor of Assessments Alfred W. Gaver was overpaid $864 in back salary after the 1933 economy act reduced his pay from 1800 to 1584 a year. The court sustained demurrers and the motion for a new trial was continued. The case involved the 1931-33 boards and the back-pay dispute, with the commissioners represented by Delaplaine Wood Buckey and Gaver by Winebrenner and Storm. A separate note says a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad case was continued to May with a jury verdict of 1750 for John C. Garman.
