Good time ruling returns 3 Frederick County men to jail
Maryland Court of Appeals last week ruled the good time formula used since 1990 must be revised. About 2,000 inmates statewide have had sentences recalculated, with three Frederick County men among those returned to custody after the decision. Corrections officials say the change surprised many and affects roughly 2,000 offenders.

Hartwood and Nancy Cornell blame a bypass for closing their Woodsboro Texaco last Thursday. State records show long running problems including insurance and environmental violations dating back years. Walkersville re elects five commissioners as Schildt joins panel
In a tight race four of the five incumbents and burgess won re election in Walkersville. Commissioner Jon Reid lost by three votes finishing sixth with 179. Ralph Whitmore led with 205, Donald Schildt 188, Chad Weddle 186, Joseph Cahn 183, Debbie Zimmerman 182, Lynn Cross 75.
