Record Northern Pike at Deep Creek Lake Sets State Benchmarked
Charles Craver of Green Glade landed a 44% inch northern pike at Deep Creek Lake, weighing 19% pounds, the largest on record for the species. A second pike 35 inches and 10 pounds was caught the same day. Craver refused to disclose exact catch location. The lake also yields strong early bass fishing with several seven pound bags reported. The Maryland Bass Federation holds an annual Deep Creek Lake tournament, slated for June 4–5. Information is available from the Promotion Council in Oakland Maryland.
