City Accident Causes $900 in Damages
About 4 p.m. Monday a two car crash at West South and Jefferson streets left approximately $900 in damage. Constance L. Billy 18 of Davis avenue and Genevieve Brosius 76 of Lime Kiln collided as Brosius, southbound on Jefferson, ran a red light and struck Billy traveling east on West South. Brosius’ 1955 Ford sustained $500 damage. Billy’s 1951 Studebaker $400. Brosius charged with failing to obey an automatic traffic control device. Officers Ray N. Dietz and Donald E. Tracey investigated.

Baltimore AP reports negotiators for seven chains and Local 692 Retail Clerks International AFL CIO resumed talks after a Monday session but the deadlock persists. The dispute began April 17 with a strike at 57 Acme stores, leading six other chains to close voluntarily and shutter 225 stores across Baltimore Central Maryland and the Eastern Shore.

A large turnout at Flint Hill Church heard County Roads Engineer Southey Nottingham outline plans to rebuild the Park Mills road from Md. 80 to Flint Hill, about 1.71 miles, with a 20 foot pavement and five foot shoulders. The project, costing about 65000 dollars, would require rights of way and federal aid standards for a 40 mph artery, with possible utility pole and fence adjustments and a replacement bridge at Park Mills by fall.

Maryland Blue Cross officials warn delaying a 14.5 percent rate hike until late June could bankrupt the hospital insurance plan. Policeman's Child Taken To Hospital
Twenty month old Carolee Phillips, daughter of City Police Officer and Mrs Calvin L Phillips, of South Jefferson street, was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital after licking a paint brush that had been in a can of gasoline. It was unclear if she swallowed any gasoline. Mrs Phillips said she had been painting a fence when she heard her child scream. The baby's tongue was white with paint. Officer Phillips drove her to the hospital. an ambulance was summoned but not needed. Patricia Hunter, 16, who received a kidney from her father in February, died today in Richmond, Virginia.
