Warns Truman Not To Veto Labor Bill

Washington May 4 Senator Byrd warns President Truman not to veto labor proposals now before Congress, saying such a move would be catastrophic for Democratic labor support and could aid a Republican presidential victory in 1948. The bill would bar union coercion in selecting bargaining agents, outlaw closed shops, set a federal mediation agency, permit injunctions against strikes, and allow suits for contract breaches.
