Thomas Neal Carper, 22, a Shenandoah Junction house painter, attempted to rob John C. Myers at Shenandoah Junction B&O station around 4 am. He fled after a struggle, was later arrested in Cumberland, and held on $2000 bond as police pursue charges. His fiancée, a Harpers Ferry telephone operator, awaited a wedding that never happened as plans collapsed after his capture.

DIES IN WASHINGTON WIDOW MARGARET GLADMAN
Mrs. Margaret Cassin Gladman widow of Dr Maynard Gladman died at 1520 Fairmount Avenue Washington this morning after about two weeks of paralysis. She was a daughter of the late John and Alice Cussin and granddaughter of Col Edward Schley and Commodore Cussin. A church worker and former president of Bell Episeopal Orphan Home she belonged to the D A R and Marsland Society. Survived by two sons Percy and Cassin Gladman and several relatives. Funeral at her home Friday with services. body to be brought to the city.

The retiring president Ter. E. Gewry Hie hee of Emmitsburg preached the sermon. The Classis elected Rev Felix D.
