New Rent Increase Formula For Landlords Released

The government on Monday issued a formula dividing landlords into small and large groups to determine rent raises. Small landlords with four units or fewer must boost net income to 30 percent of gross, while large landlords with more than four units must reach 25 percent. The method uses gross income, expenses, taxes, and depreciation to compute allowable increases, with examples showing how a $1,000 gross becomes $1,143 for a small landlord. If granted, increases start from the petition date. Tenants must be notified and can appeal. Meanwhile a separate report from Baltimore notes seven year old Freddie Krueger fell 125 feet into a quarry and died after tossing a stone on his way home from school.
