Melissa Thomas, who underwent a kidney transplant, returns to her Frederick home with help from American Red Cross transportation volunteers. Driver James Brachey ferried Thomas and her mother from Johns Hopkins, logging 2,436 miles, and the group formed a close “family” over months of treatment.
