Debate OverLand Changes Near National Parks
The dispute centers on whether landowners bordering national parks must inform the Park Service of plans that could harm park resources. NPCA advocates a new bill requiring notification and funding for planning, while NPS opposes broad authority extensions. A second hearing is slated for May amid fire, emergency calls, and local responses.

Historic church seeks grant for roof and renovations
Montgomery County plans to request 150000 dollars from the Maryland Historical Trust to support a 400000 dollar project at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Boyds built in 1893. The small congregation of 30 to 35 members has already done much of the work, including painting, with plans for a new roof eaves two restrooms a septic system and a bell restoration. The site features four historic stone buildings dating to around 1806 and welcomes weekend visitors to view 19th century life. Grant decisions will be made in July after ranking by 10 criteria including significance urgency and educational potential. A district revival is slated for May 3-7 at the Church of God of Prophecy Bartonsville Road.
