Campaign ends as candidates fight for nominations

With two days until the primary, voters in the Sixth Congressional District face seven candidates, three Republicans and four Democrats, for Congress. Democratic nominees include Winebrenner Koon Cummings Mish while Republicans name Dawson Woltinger and Zihiman. Delegates to the State Convention are listed for both parties amid broad attention on local roads Brunswick Knoxville link and county road improvements are slated for next year with possible upgrades this year.

Boys' Week Benefit Play To Be Presented

Tickets go on sale for the Boy Scout Boy s Week benefit production in the City Opera House on Friday May 16. The Hood College Marionettes perform Augustus Thomas Her Husband s Wife in three acts, a widely praised comedy about a hypochondriac wife and her schemes. Woman's Club Of All Saints To Meet After Summer

Announcement of an important gathering of the Woman's Club of All Saints in the Sunday school room on Monday at 2 30 o'clock. It is the last meeting before summer recess and members are urged to attend. The Sewing Branch directed by Mrs Frank Worthington made thirty seven garments for two families and three infant layettes. The Daughters of the King visited the sick, delivering flowers and dainties to the shut ins.

Physician's case found on church steps in Baltimore

Night watchman finds a physician's medicine valise outside Calvary Methodist Episcopal Church on Market Space thought broken into for drugs. Inside were vials, stethoscope, tools, and a smaller leather case marked Charles W Neivhans Co. Unsure what items were stolen. only a hypodermic needle and some dope missing. Frederick Clearing House notes gain in year totals

The Frederick Clearing House Association reports a strong year with total clearings of 21,611,205.35 dollars, up nearly a million from the previous year and far above prewar figures. Edwin J. Capital Trust and Savings Bank Closes in St Paul

The Capital Trust and Savings Bank of St Paul with deposits of five million dollars was ordered closed by the State Superintendent of Banks. The bank has a capital of five hundred thousand dollars and was organized in December 1890. President Mitchell stated the bank should be able to pay its liabilities in full if land holdings are disposed of within a reasonable time for near normal value.

Miller Held for Passing Worthless Check in Baltimore

Howard G. Miller aged about 25 was arrested in Baltimore by County Constable Charles W. Smith and brought here. Before Justice J. Grahame Johnson the charge was not pressed. he made the check good and paid costs. A similar check at another local place was also cleared. Miller stayed at a Baltimore hotel and was said to work as a waiter.

State parole officer James A Berger of Howard county submitted his resignation to State Parole Commissioner Edward M Tarrish. The resignation was accepted and Berger granted a travel of absence with pay until May 15. Berger served as a parole officer since 1922.
