Marcus Darner 25, once of Newton and Jefferson in Kansas, disappeared about a week ago. Newton police later reported he was in good hands but critically injured. His parents and Sheriff Albaugh await further word on his whereabouts and condition.
A Maryland Classis of the Reformed Church held a Thursday afternoon session at the Evangelical Reformed church. Elder A. A. McCardell was elected president and Rev. HE. W. Brindle secretary. Rev. Robert L. Bair’s Utica charge relationship was dissolved and he received dismissal papers to join the Virginia classis for Wood stock Wa.
The Orleans Parish Prison warden reports a letter warning of harm if the six Italians condemned to die at Amite on May 9 are hanged. A $50,000 offer was received to aid the escape of five prisoners, and Governor Parker was asked to mobilize a National Guard unit for duty at Amite.
Francis Neale Parke of Westminster accepted the appointment as Chief Judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit. Governor Ritchie said the offer came by telegram on Wednesday and the commission has not yet been forwarded. Upon oath and commission, Parke will join the Court of Appeals.
The House Committee investigating Representative Zihlman of Maryland said a report might be delayed until next week. Members released a statement but revised it later, stressing no decision had been reached and that findings would come within a day or two.
The annual convention of the Woman's Home Missionary Society for Frederick District, Methodist Episcopal, will meet May 7 and 8 in Calvary M E Church Frederick. Delegates from Martinsburg Hagerstown Winchester Frostburg Piedmont Mt Savage Lonaconing Lovettsville and other district towns are expected. The program features speakers Mrs John Lowe national secretary and Dr R F Mubray with music by Calvary choir. The First District's Miss Lillie May Rockwell India missionary representative may attend.
Warry Dunn, a former State Police man suspended by Commissioner EB Austin Baughman, did not apply for another hearing by April 21. State official Oliver C. Short said Dunn would have received one, but Dunn must initiate the next move as he remains suspended indefinitely. Dunn’s action stemmed from ejecting Devilla Brish from the Fair Grounds last fall during auto races, with Brish alleging improper authority, assault, and cursing.
Spring meeting of the Montgomery County section of the Women’s Missionary Union of the Western District Baptist Association gathered at Germantown Baptist Church with representatives from Rockville Kensington Cedar Grove Barnesville Upper Seneca Germantown Mount Zion and Travita. Miss Isabel Kingston of Rockville led the session. Mrs. John R. Fizer of Baltimore spoke in support of the $75,000,000 campaign. Devotional exercises occurred each session and a luncheon was served at noon by Germantown Church.
Coast Guard Cutter Haida continues the search for Major Frederick L. Martin who disappeared after departing Chignik Alaska for Dutch Harbor 400 miles away. The May 2 report via Wireless to the Associated Press notes sightings remain unconfirmed as efforts intensify from Estevan to locate him.
The Methodist Episcopal general conference voted to join the United States in joining the World Court for settling international disputes. The measure, presented by Henry Wade Rogers, passed without dissent. The conference also urged Congress to extend prohibition to Philippine Islands.
Stock prices surged to new highs with Colorado Fuel American Smelting and Gold Dust leading gains. A wave of profit taking before noon dampened the session as several names hovered near yearly peaks and volume reached about 1,000,000 shares.

San Francisco plans remove bodies from four cemeteries to free about 70 blocks for development. The Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance to vacate two cemeteries, with similar action anticipated for the other two, despite five years of opposition and a constitutional challenge.
Iva Wills 20 testified in Chambersburg about Jacob Mareh’s abuse of her and her brother Samuel Shockey. She described meeting on a mountain road after Jacob struck Samuel, a struggle, and Samuel firing first after Jacob shot twice, claiming self defense.
Countess Margaret Carnegie de Perigny sister of Harry K. Thaw was named correspondent in an absolute divorce action by Mrs Madeline Helen Modica against Emanuel Modica of Newark New Jersey The suit alleges the countess gave the husband a motor car and $4000 in cash and seeks damages for alienation of affections.
A 214 acre area will be subdivided into lots. The site includes cemeteries dating back to the 1848 gold rush era. Local authorities plan the development with attention to historic graves.
