County approves city annexations
Frederick County Commissioners unanimously found annexation requests consistent with the county comprehensive plan. The Bowers family seeks 34 acres on Bowers Road annexed to Frederick city under agreed density and phasing limits. Additional annexation of 6.1 acres for First Missionary Baptist Church was approved, with zoning changes from R3 to R2 and city sewer access. East Patrick Street site annexation for East Frederick Elementary School was waived for inconsistency.

Hogan seeks more applicants for Frederick County planning board
Frederick County Commissioner Yona Hogan on Thursday proposed readvertising vacancies on the county planning commission to attract more candidates. Chair Martha Rice and Vice Chair Robert White face term expirations July 1, with both seeking reappointment. Only one other applicant, William Dahut, had submitted a bid by last week’s deadline. Hogan favors expanded review of members and a broader spectrum of opinions, not automatic reappointments.
