Sykes Named Assistant City Engineer in Frederick
Gaither H. Sykes a veteran engineer was named assistant city engineer of Frederick succeeding William Selzer who resigned. Sykes, a Howard County native and Frederick resident since 1935, will assume duties at City Hall on Thursday. He has held multiple high level posts including with the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads WPA War Department and Army. his long career spans private practice to government service.

Catholic Scouts Save Methodists From Capsized Boat
In Salisbury a Catholic Boy Scouts crew saved a Methodist outing when a small aluminum boat capsized in rough wind. Four passengers clung to the hull for over an hour until a scout on Dr. Robert L.
