John J. Sponseller, a well known resident of Charlesville, died yesterday afternoon at about seventy three. The cause was heart disease. He leaves a wife, three sons and two daughters. The funeral will be held at his home tomorrow at 10 o clock, then interment at Zion church.
A Baltimore couple was married in Westminster at the Methodist Episcopal parsonage last evening at 5 45 by Rev. J L Walsh. Groom John G Shriner and bride Miss Lou Yearley traveled on the 5 35 train after the ceremony and left on the fast mail for Baltimore.
Governor Brown appointed John Mitchell Robinson as chief justice of the Maryland Court of Appeals and A Hunter Boyd of Cumberland as chief judge of the fourth circuit and an associate justice of the Court of Appeals. Both vacancies followed Chief Judge Richard H Alvey's resignation to lead the District of Columbia Supreme Court.
The Young Peoples Missionary Society of the Evangical Lutheran church held an educational and devotional gathering last evening in the old Infant Sunday School room. A large, attentive audience heard readings on China including geography, foot binding, missionary work, and appeals from converted Chinese women. Two new members were elected. Walter Rice named delegate and Lille Birely as alternate to the central convention in Freedom, Md, in June. meeting adjourned after prayer.
An aerolite fell near Osawatomie Ban striking the statue of John Brown known as Osawatomie Brown. It broke off the left arm and passed through the dome and statue. Experts say the meteorite is pellam metal, a material thought to exist only in the gun.
